Central High School Air Force JROTC cadets worked with FFA students volunteering time with the Carroll County American Legion Post 143. Students assisted Commander Steve Fuller and veterans with their annual barbeque fundraiser to support various American Legion programs. The students worked an eight (8) hour shift at the Carroll County Agriculture Center grilling, preparing, and delivering meals.
Commander Fuller took time to present each student volunteer with a certificate of appreciation for contributing time towards the advancement of the American Legion programs and activities.
American Legion Post 143 includes Haralson, Paulding, Cobb, Carroll, Douglas Fulton, Heard and Coweta Counties. Thirty World War I veterans signed a charter creating American Legion Post 143 on March 19, 1935. Since it’s inception, the Post has been an active contributor to the community and its veterans and their families. The Post focuses on four pillars, Pillar I: Veterans Affairs, Pillar II: National Security, Pillar III: Americanism, and Pillar IV: Children & Youth. To become a Legionnaire, one must have served on active duty in the United States Armed Forces since December 7, 1941 and have been honorably discharged or is currently serving.
