Longtime Clothing Store The Squire Shop to Close After Decades of Style and Service in Carrollton

After more than six decades of outfitting generations in west Georgia, The Squire Shop—a well-known men’s clothing store in Carrollton—will officially close its doors on June 30, 2025. The announcement was made by owner April Brewer Nestor, who shared the news with heartfelt reflections on the shop’s past and its place in the community.

“After many meaningful years in business, I’ve made the incredibly difficult decision to close The Squire Shop,” Nestor said. “This beloved store first opened its doors in 1963, and I was honored to purchase it in 2005 at just 24 years old. For the past 20 years, I’ve done my best to carry on its legacy, serving our community with pride, care, and a deep appreciation for what The Squire Shop has meant to so many.”

Founded by Charles Willis Sr. and Larry Cooley, The Squire Shop quickly established itself as a trusted destination for high-quality suits, tuxedos, and menswear. Under April’s leadership, the shop remained a staple in Carrollton, blending classic styles with modern trends and offering brands like Peter Millar, Johnnie-O, and Patagonia.

“Like many small businesses, we’ve faced ongoing challenges in a changing retail and economic landscape,” Nestor shared. “And after a great deal of reflection, I’ve decided it’s time to close this chapter.”

Over the years, The Squire Shop played an integral role in countless life events—especially through its tuxedo rentals for weddings and proms. “I’m especially proud to share that we held the title for Jim’s Formalwear as their largest dealer nationwide for prom tuxedo rentals and the third largest overall dealer in the Southeast,” Nestor said. “These milestones are a testament to the trust you’ve placed in us.”

A closing sale is expected in the coming weeks, offering longtime customers a final opportunity to shop at the store that has been part of Carrollton’s fabric for over 60 years. Customers with gift cards or loyalty points are encouraged to use them by June 30.

“To all of you who have supported us—thank you,” April added. “You helped make The Squire Shop more than just a store. You made it a part of the community’s story.”
