Clay Skins, a new exhibit open now at the Carrollton Center for the Arts, showcases the work of potter Feliciano Abaurre.
Abaurre started practicing his craft in Argentina before moving to Patagonia and then to Dallas, Georgia. The clay vessels he creates draw primarily from figurative elements: transformation, fear, death, happiness and even silliness. He incorporates materials sourced from the local environment, creating a connection between his work and the land.
“Texture and character play such an important part in Abuarre’s work,” said Visual Arts Coordinator Marcella Kuykendall. “Each piece has its own personality and they are all beautifully created.”
The center will host a free opening reception for the show, November 6, 5pm – 7pm.
Clay Skins runs through December 15 and is sponsored by Randy and Penny Ayers.
