Bremen Board of Education Holds January Meeting, Approves Personnel and Financial Reports

The Bremen Board of Education met on Monday night to conduct annual officer elections, review district finances, and approve several personnel actions for the 2026 calendar year. At the start of the meeting, the Board elected officers for the 2026 calendar year. Vann Pelt was re-elected Chairman, Kelley Pollard was elected Vice Chairman, and Brandon Barrow was elected Treasurer. All officer positions were approved by unanimous vote.

The Board approved the meeting agenda and unanimously approved the December 2025 financial reports presented by Director of Finance Allen Pullen. The report included an overview of local ad valorem tax collections and SPLOST revenues from Haralson and Carroll counties, totaling $292,963.41 for the month. As of December, Bremen City Schools had collected 6.3 percent of its FY25 local tax budget and 48.3 percent of its anticipated FY26 Title Ad Valorem Tax revenue.

The consent agenda items were approved unanimously, including minutes from the December 8, 2025, meeting and facilities requests from the Bremen Takedown Club and U10 Youth Baseball. The Board approved several personnel actions, including retirements, resignations, leaves, transfers, and new hires. Among the approved recommendations was the appointment of Grant Chesnut as Assistant Principal at Bremen High School and the district’s Athletic Director.

“Grant Chesnut’s leadership experience will be a tremendous asset to Bremen High School,” said Principal Whitt Brown. “His commitment to student success aligns with the mission of Bremen City Schools.”

Chesnut brings more than 20 years of experience in education, athletic administration, and football coaching at both the high school and collegiate levels. He most recently served as Tight Ends Coach and Interim Offensive Coordinator at Colorado State University and has previously held coaching and leadership roles at institutions including Kennesaw State University, the U.S. Naval Academy, and Western Kentucky University, as well as serving as Athletic Director and Head Football Coach at Central High School in Carrollton.

“Grant is a transformational leader who has built strong relationships and made a meaningful impact everywhere he has served. He leads with integrity, character, and hard work. I am extremely excited to welcome him to the Blue Devil Family,” said Superintendent Shannon Christian.
