A new retailer is preparing to move into the former OfficeMax location at Oxford Exchange in Oxford, Alabama.
According to construction plans, Boot Barn is slated to take over the approximately 15,453-square-foot space at 900 Oxford Exchange Blvd. The project involves renovating the existing one-story retail building, with construction expected to begin in the coming months.
The development follows the closure of OfficeMax earlier this year, ending a long run at the Oxford shopping center. News of the closure was shared by local Realtor Angelena Cofield of Kelly Right Real Estate LLC’s Oxford-Anniston Branch, who noted the store had been a go-to resource for printing and marketing materials for many local businesses and professionals.
Founded in 1978, Boot Barn has grown into one of the nation’s leading western and workwear retailers. The company offers a wide selection of cowboy boots, western apparel, work boots, outerwear, accessories, and gear from popular brands including Ariat, Wrangler, Carhartt, Cody James, Justin Boots, and many others. In recent years, the retailer has continued an aggressive expansion strategy across the country as interest in western-inspired fashion and lifestyle products has grown.
The company has also been expanding throughout the Southeast. Earlier this year, Boot Barn opened a new location in Newnan, Georgia, in a former Party City space, demonstrating the retailer’s willingness to repurpose vacant big-box storefronts for its growing footprint.
The addition of Boot Barn brings another national retailer to Oxford Exchange and fills a prominent vacancy left behind by OfficeMax. Once completed, the store will provide shoppers in Oxford and the surrounding region with a dedicated destination for western wear, work apparel, footwear, and accessories.
Construction is expected to begin within the next few months, with an opening date yet to be announced.
