Carroll County Board of Education approves three attendance zone adjustments

Reflecting growth in the northern portion of the district, the Carroll County Board of Education approved changes to three school attendance zones at the Board Meeting on January 9, 2023. The new attendance zones will be effective beginning in August 2023.

About 50 students will be rezoned from Glanton-Hindsman Elementary School to Villa Rica Elementary School. About 20 students will be rezoned from Bay Springs Middle School to Central Middle School, and about 25 students will be rezoned from Villa Rica High School to Central High School. These adjustments were developed and approved based on the district’s Master Plan and an extensive review of enrollment projections.

“With the anticipated growth in the northern portion of our county over the next few years, we are making proactive adjustments to ensure we can accommodate increased enrollment and continue to provide premier service to our existing families,” Carroll County School Superintendent Scott Cowart said.

The district will mail a letter to all families affected by the attendance line adjustments to explain next steps and will host in-person information sessions at Villa Rica Elementary School on January 31 and Central High School on February 1.
